About
.WAV Zine is a digital music, arts, and culture magazine I founded in the wake of COVID-19. Over 60 student volunteers came together (digitally at first) to put up curated and creative marketing campaigns for local artists during quarantine. When returning to campus  .WAV took the lead on supporting local artists, and has since thrown countless concerts, hosted community art galleries, and sold-out-of-print zines all over time.
Role 2020-2021
Co-founder, Marketing Director
During my tenure from 2020 to 2021 as Co-founder and Marketing Director, WAV evolved from a concept into a prominent brand within San Luis Obispo. I ensured brand cohesiveness and curated our voice to resonate with our audience, resulting in content that spotlighted local musicians and amplified community voices.

Standing out: Digital storytelling through artist spotlights
Our Artist Spotlight series offers musicians a week of comprehensive promotion across all WAV platforms, featuring interview articles, photoshoots, live session recordings, podcasts, and more. Teasers preceding the spotlight week generate anticipation among our audience, fostering excitement around the upcoming content.

Role 2021-2022
Co-founder, General Manager
In my new role as General Manager from 2021 to 2022, .wav embarked on a new chapter. Emerging from the digital COVID age of 2020, we endeavored to intertwine our story with the community's fabric in person. From house shows, crafts sales, and printing a merch line, each endeavor mirrored our dedication to fostering connections. With each sale, our vision expanded. Finally, with hearts brimming, we birthed four tangible print magazines, conveying our passion for local music, art, and culture. All four sold out within the first week, being distributed in sizeable batches across local business storefronts.
Events
.WAV has proudly curated a diverse array of events, that support all types of artists. Since its inception, our brand has been dedicated to uplifting the community through engaging content. In the post-COVID era, the community reciprocated their love, with nearly all our events reaching capacity or selling out. The success of our events provided the necessary funding to launch merchandise sales and print magazines.

Merchandise
Utilizing the proceeds from our event hosting and promotion, we ventured into selling our own merchandise. Through strategic use of social media teasers, giveaway contests, and interactive posts, our initial merchandise order of 100 hoodies sold out on pre-order.

printed magazines
After achieving success with merchandise sales, we transitioned to publishing physical magazines, a significant enhancement from our previous online-only format. Local businesses began stocking our magazines at their storefronts, strengthening our ties within the community while simultaneously selling out.
